South End Soccer only happens because of our coach volunteers. We are seeking all levels of coaching experience. No experience required, training provided.  College Students, Neighbors, Family Members – if you are interested in coaching, please contact Lou Rizzo at sesoccercoaching@gmail.com for more information.

Coach Training in September
Sign-up for coach training for the Fall 2011 Season! We encourage all coaches to attend coach training provide by Mass Youth Soccer. Whether you’ve coached before or are a first time coach, there’s still plenty to learn and these training sessions ensure you have what you need to have a great season.  We have arranged two training sessions for our coaches this year:

  • Sunday 9/11 – F Course for returning coaches (prerequisite, must have completed G Course)
  • Sunday 9/18 – G Course for new/uncertified coaches

In order to secure your spot in these training sessions you will need to complete a two step registration process. See details below, if you have questions please contact sesoccercoaching@gmail.com .

Step 1: Please register as a coach with South End Soccer. This will allow us to process your CORI background check. Register as a coach with South End Soccer.

Step 2: Please register for your coach training with Mass Youth Soccer. Please sign-up for either the “G Course” or the “F Course”. We encourage all previous coaches to attend the “F Course”. All new coaches should attend the “G Course”. Register for Coach Training with Mass Youth Soccer.

Game Rules
U8 Game Rules:

  • Four 8 min. quarters, 2 min break end quarter, 5 min. break at half (subs in stop-ages, everyone needs to play)

  • 4 v 4 with no goalie

  • Field size approx. 25×35y, goal 5y wide @ center of each end

  • No scores kept

  • No off-sides

  • Yes for corner kicks, goal kicks, & throw-ins, and allow do-over if needed with instruction by coach/ref

  • All fouls shall result in a direct free kick.  Examples of fouls are handballs, pushing, tripping, grabbing, rough play

  • Referee/coach/parent must explain ALL infringements to the offending player. No cards shown for misconduct. If a child is being too rambunctious/exhibiting unsportsman-like conduct then the game official will ask the coach to make a substitution of that player to give the child a chance to calm down before returning to play.

  • Suggestion for time keep & ref. – coach from one team is time keeper and coach from other team is ref (maybe rotate at half)

  • Officiating should be flexible & patient, and that time keeping runs continuously thru the period – there are no time stoppages other than the designated periods or added time at the end of the game

  • Opposing coaches, players and parents should shake hands after each match


U10 Game Rules:

  • Two 25min halves, 5-10 min. break at half (subs at any stoppages, everyone needs to play)

  • 6 v 6 including goalie

  • Field size approx. 35×55y,  goal 5y wide @ center of each end

  • Yes scores kept , but no record/standings will be kept.

  • No off-sides

  • Yes for corner kicks, goal kicks, & throw-ins
